On a rainy Saturday back in September last year, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Kayleigh Smith & Bard Smirk at Highcliffe Castle. The weather initially looked like it was going to do its best to scupper the day’s plans, but that wasn’t going to prevent these two from having their best day ever. As it turned out, soon after the ceremony the rainclouds decided enough was enough, and we managed a reprieve from any further rain throughout the rest of the afternoon.
A short (1hr) drive later and it was back to a slightly drier East Horton Golf Club, a little closer to home, the Wedding Breakfast. We managed to steal a few minutes away from the crowd, as well as a couple of Golf buggies, to get some of the portraits shown below and whilst it didn’t rain again, the clouds certainly kept reminding us they were ready and waiting to empty on us again.
In a rare spot of luck I was even invited to sit down with some of the family and eat with them, which was a total result when I saw the amazing BBQ buffet laid before my eyes! Needless to say, only the sweetcorn got the better of me (Why do you never have a toothpick when you need one?) and fed and watered, I was ready for the speeches and party time.
The only comment I have about the speeches is that, for absolute comedy value, I will never forget the one made by Kayleigh’s dad. One sneaky, well placed comment had the entire room in stiches,
Fortunately we had a dry afternoon and evening, which meant the grand firework finale at about 10pm. What a day.
Please leave a comment below after the photographs; The nicer the comments, the more I smile! It’s also really great to hear your thoughts and opinions.
Fabulous 'Irregular Choice' Wedding Shoes!
